Sunrise Multicultural Project

Recognising the People Who Give Their Time, Share Their Skills and Make a Difference Every Day

Behind every successful community organisation are people who generously give their time, energy and kindness to support others.

At Sunrise Multicultural Project, our volunteers are an invaluable part of our community. Their compassion, enthusiasm and commitment help create the warm, welcoming and inclusive environment that makes Sunrise so special.

As we reflect on 30 years of supporting individuals and families across Banbury, we want to take a moment to recognise and thank the incredible volunteers who have contributed to our journey.

Making a Difference, One Act of Kindness at a Time

Volunteering is about much more than giving time. It is about building connections, sharing experiences, supporting others and helping people feel that they belong.

Our volunteers contribute in many different ways, including helping with community groups, children’s activities, workshops, events and practical support.

Whether welcoming someone to their first session, helping organise an activity, sharing a skill or simply offering a friendly conversation, these contributions can make a meaningful difference to someone’s day.

Every act of kindness helps us build a stronger, more connected community.

Our wonderful volunteers help create welcoming spaces and positive experiences for the Sunrise community.

Volunteering Is a Journey of Personal Growth

One of the most rewarding aspects of volunteering is seeing how the experience can benefit volunteers themselves.

At Sunrise, we believe volunteering should provide opportunities for people to:

  • Develop new skills and confidence
  • Gain valuable experience
  • Meet people from different backgrounds
  • Build friendships and social connections
  • Feel valued and part of a supportive team
  • Make a positive contribution to their local community

We recognise that everyone has something valuable to offer, whether through their knowledge, practical skills, creativity, life experiences or willingness to help.

By supporting and encouraging our volunteers, we aim to create an environment where everyone can learn, grow and feel appreciated.

Our Volunteers, An Award-Winning Community

We were incredibly proud to receive the OCVA Volunteer Organisation Award 2026, recognising Sunrise’s commitment to supporting and valuing volunteers.

This achievement belongs to everyone who contributes to making Sunrise such a welcoming and inclusive organisation.

30 Years of Community Spirit and Dedication

Since its beginnings, Sunrise has relied on the kindness, commitment and generosity of people who believe in bringing communities together.

Over the past three decades, volunteers have helped us support individuals and families, deliver activities, celebrate cultural diversity and create opportunities for people to feel included and empowered.

Some have supported Sunrise over many years, while others have joined us more recently, bringing fresh ideas, enthusiasm and valuable experiences.

Every volunteer, past and present, has contributed to the organisation we are today.

Their involvement reminds us that strong communities are built through people supporting one another.

Celebrating the dedication and community spirit of our Sunrise volunteers.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Volunteers

To all our wonderful Sunrise volunteers:

Thank you!

Thank you for your kindness, patience, dedication and generosity.

Thank you for the time you give, the skills you share and the care you show to the people we support.

Thank you for helping us create a welcoming environment where individuals and families feel respected, valued and included.

We are incredibly grateful for everything you do.

You are an essential part of the Sunrise family, and we couldn’t do what we do without you.

Could You Be Our Next Sunrise Volunteer?

Have you ever thought about volunteering but weren’t sure where to begin?

At Sunrise, we welcome people from different backgrounds who have a passion for helping others and making a positive difference.

You don’t necessarily need previous volunteering experience. What matters most is your enthusiasm, kindness and willingness to get involved.

Volunteering can be a wonderful opportunity to meet new people, develop confidence, gain experience and become part of a friendly and supportive community.

Whether you have a few hours to spare or a particular skill you would like to share, we would love to hear from you.
