Why I Joined Sunrise:

As a social worker I had always worked in multicultural areas in London and Bradford.When I came to Banbury in the 80’s I found it very monocultural, so when I retired I was delighted to find there was an organisation promoting multiculturalism right on my doorstep! It really spoke to my beliefs in fairness, social justice and respect for other cultures.

What Excites Me About the Future:

For Sunrise, its increasing ability to reach out to people of all faiths and none, all age groups and all the various cultural groups in the area. As for the future in general, it’s harder to be as optimistic about that at the moment!

Favourite Place in the Local Area:

So many favourites, but whenever I come back to the town I love to drive down Horsefair and imagine it full of animals from when Banbury was one of the biggest stock markets in the UK. 

One Thing People Might Not Know About Me Is:

I was a hippy in the seventies.

What stands out most to me about Sunrise is the incredible dedication and optimism of the team.

If You Had a Superpower to Help the Community, What Would It Be?

If I had  superpower it would be to shut off everyone’s mobile phones and make them start talking and listening properly to each other.
