Supporting communities, strengthening lives and making a lasting difference in Banbury.
We are delighted to announce that Sunrise Multicultural Project has been awarded a generous £15,000 grant from the Garfield Weston Foundation, supporting our continued work with individuals and families across Banbury.
This significant contribution towards our core running costs will help us maintain the essential services, dedicated staff and welcoming community spaces that so many local people rely upon.
For over 30 years, Sunrise has been bringing people together, tackling social isolation, supporting families experiencing hardship and creating opportunities for people from all backgrounds to feel included, supported and valued.
Each week, we support approximately up to 200 people each week through our wide range of free community programmes and support services, including:
- Women’s groups, men’s wellbeing sessions and activities for older residents that reduce loneliness and build friendships.
- Free children’s and youth clubs, providing safe spaces, positive experiences and opportunities for young people.
- Hot meals, food parcels and emergency essentials for individuals and families experiencing financial hardship.
- Practical advice and advocacy, helping people access benefits, housing, healthcare and other essential services.
- Specialist domestic abuse support, helping survivors access safety, stability and independence.
- Community activities that promote confidence, cultural understanding and stronger connections between people.
Why This Funding Matters
Behind every grant are real people whose lives are positively affected by the support they receive.
For some, Sunrise provides their only opportunity to socialise during the week. For others, it means having access to a nutritious hot meal, receiving help with an overwhelming form, finding support during a personal crisis or knowing their children have somewhere safe and welcoming to go.
Funding towards our core costs is particularly valuable because it helps keep our doors open and our services running consistently. It allows us to be there for people not just during moments of crisis, but throughout their journey towards greater confidence, wellbeing and independence.
